PillWheel is a medication organization and reminder app. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We do not sell your data, period.
1. Who We Are
PillWheel ("we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application for iOS developed and operated by Lintio Limited. It helps users organize medications, track doses, and manage medication routines. For questions about this policy, contact us at info@lintio.org.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
When you create an account and use PillWheel, you may provide:
- Account information — email address, name, and password (or credentials via Apple/Google Sign In)
- Medication information — medication names, dosages, schedules, quantities, and instructions you enter manually
- Prescription documents — images of prescription documents you choose to scan and archive
- Provider and pharmacy information — names, phone numbers, and addresses of your healthcare providers and pharmacies
- Profile information — date of birth, health conditions, or other optional profile details you choose to add
- Notes — any personal notes you add to medications or prescription records
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
We may automatically collect limited technical information to operate the app:
- Device type and operating system version
- App version and crash reports (via Expo/EAS error reporting)
- Push notification token (to deliver reminders you have set up)
- Anonymous usage statistics (feature usage counts, not health data)
2.3 Scan-Related Data
When you use the bottle label scanner or prescription archive feature:
- Images you scan are processed using OCR (optical character recognition) to extract text
- Extracted text is returned to your device for review — it is not permanently logged
- Prescription images you choose to save are stored in private, authenticated cloud storage tied to your account
- We do not log raw prescription text, pharmacy information, prescriber details, Rx numbers, or medication details in standard application logs
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide solely to operate and improve PillWheel:
- To store your medication records and make them accessible on your device
- To deliver push notification reminders you have configured
- To provide refill alerts based on your pill count data
- To authenticate your account and protect your data
- To respond to your support requests
- To improve app performance and fix bugs
4. How We Store and Protect Your Data
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a GDPR-compliant cloud database provider. We implement the following protections:
- Row Level Security (RLS) — your records are only accessible to your authenticated account
- Encrypted storage — sensitive information such as authentication tokens is stored in iOS Secure Enclave / Keychain
- Private image storage — prescription images are stored in private, authenticated cloud storage and are not publicly accessible
- HTTPS — all data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal health information with third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — we use Supabase for database and storage services. They process your data on our behalf and are bound by data processing agreements
- Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public
- Business transfer — if PillWheel is acquired or merged with another company, your data may be transferred. We will notify you in advance
We do not share your health data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics companies, or any third party for commercial purposes.
6. Third-Party Services
PillWheel uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage (supabase.com)
- Expo / EAS — app build and deployment infrastructure
- Apple Sign In / Google Sign In — optional authentication methods (their own privacy policies apply)
- RxNorm / NLM APIs — public medication database lookup (no personal data is sent)
- RevenueCat — subscription management (for Pro plan users)
7. Push Notifications
PillWheel requests permission to send push notifications to deliver medication reminders, refill alerts, and missed dose notifications you configure. You can revoke notification permission at any time in your device settings. We do not send marketing push notifications without your explicit consent.
8. Camera and Photo Access
PillWheel requests camera access solely for the bottle label scanner and prescription archive features. Camera access is only used when you actively initiate a scan. We do not access your camera in the background or access your photo library without your explicit action.
9. Children's Privacy
PillWheel is not designed for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@lintio.org and we will promptly delete it.
